Mr Petros Theodorou, Gestalt Psychotherapists held a very interesting talk on ‘Domestic Violence and the Conspiracy of Silence’ in the frame of the ‘Psychology for all’ series

Mr Theodorou touched upon this very delicate issue and discussed that keeping silent about domestic violence is often a bigger problem than the violent act itself. Many households suffer today from domestic abuse. Family is a system thus all members are directly affected by violent situations. The speaker noted that its often the case that family members choose silence as a means of protection against negative consequences of violent acts. However, this usually end us with more negative consequences for the family as a whole.

The audience found Mr Theodorou’s presentation particularly enlightening and helpful.
