The Innovation Challenge 2013 Competition

The competition ‘Innovation Challenge 2013’ was officially launched in Sofia on the 13th of June 2013 with a special event that was opened with a business seminar by Mr. Stelios Kehaghias, Senior Lecturer at our Business Administration and Economics Department, themed “Innovate or Die”. The event took place at the Kempinski Hotel Zografski.

In his seminar Mr. Kehaghias covered a variety of topics ranging from innovation in European organisations in a recessionary period, the traditional view of closed innovation to open innovation modes, approaches and traps. In his presentation he also explained why open innovation is a strategic alternative for Europe and he suggested ways in which companies can introduce open innovation and attract contributors.

The event attracted young and ambitious managers from Bulgarian and international companies with a common interest – innovations. The seminar proved to be a great opportunity for the young professionals to discuss and learn how their companies can profit from a different innovation approaches.

Mr. Kehaghias concluded his presentation with a Q&A session where participants had the opportunity to discuss with him points he raised during the seminar.

The Innovation Challenge is a competition for ambitious young managers who turn creativity into profitable bottom lines and continuously seek new ways to improve their company’s business model, processes, practices, products or services. The competition is a challenge for any successful professional who knows how to go beyond the given business models and find new ones with creativity and innovation. Participants are asked to present a project on innovative ideas to practices they have incorporated or plan to incorporate in their business. The topics as well as the rules of the competition will be outlined by the International Faculty of the University of Sheffield, CITY College.

The participants of the Innovation Challenge contest are people, trying to go overleap the already established business models and create new ones in an innovative way. The winners will have the opportunity to upgrade their professional skills with the EMBA programme, offered by The University of Sheffield International Faculty, CITY College

The competition is organised by Market Trend will be sponsored by Ernst & Young.
