The ‘Psychology for all series’ hosted Dr Antonia Ypsilanti, Lecturer at our Psychology Department, who delivered an interesting talk on 'Socio-emotional Development of Preschoolers' on Wednesday 18 March 2015 at our main campus in Thessaloniki.
With many parents of small children attending, Dr Ypsilanti discussed the different factors that influence preschoolers’ social and emotional development such as their temperament, the type of parenting experienced by the children as well as the attachment. “Research reveals that the child’s secure attachment and bonding to its mother has a positive impact on the child’s social and emotional development’ note Dr Ypsilanti. During her presentation Dr Ypsilanti identified the positive and negative practices of parenting with respect to their children’s’ social and emotional adaptation.
The event was well-attended and created an opportunity for the audience to discuss with the speaker issues they are facing with their preschoolers.
