Dr Dimopoulos nominated for SURE Supervisor of the Year 2018 Award by the University of Sheffield

Dr Kostas Dimopoulos

Congratulations to Dr Kostas Dimopoulos, Senior Lecturer at our Computer Science Department who has been nominated for SURE Supervisor of the Year 2018 Award!

The student-researcher who nominated Dr Dimopoulos stated the following:
My supervisor has constantly motivated, inspired and challenged me to carry out this research to the best of my abilities. He has always been there for me whenever I encountered a problem and was very willing to help me overcome those obstacles. He has been a constant motivation and has helped me realize my own potential in this research area. He was constantly focused and committed to the project and was always highly interested to know the problems as well as what I had managed to accomplish in every stage of the project. His expertise, previous experience as well as the constant support and enthusiasm have made this project possible and have motivated me to pursue a research degree in the future.

The ‘SURE Academic Supervisor of the Year Award’ rewards academics who have been available and supportive to their SURE student researcher and actively helped him/her to develop both personal and academic skills. The awards comes in recognition of the supervisor’s generosity with their research knowledge and willingness to help, communicate regularly with the student, readily answering questions.

Committed to research, the academic staff at the International Faculty CITY College encourages students to get involved in research, and participate in the University of Sheffield SURE Scheme, providing support and guidance along the way. In many cases in the past students from the International Faculty have participated in the SURE Scheme with research projects and won awards.
