Dr Tsirakoglou was awarded her PhD by the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. For her doctoral research she was funded by the Greek State Scholarships Foundation and the Sophie Afenduli Foundation. She has taught undergraduate courses at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and has spent a research period at the University of Lausanne in Switzerland.

Her research interests encompass two overlapping areas. The first is informed by her wider interest in American literature from a comparative perspective. This includes her PhD dissertation and an ongoing interest in the ways American literature converses with foreign literatures and cultures through the medium of translation. This research has led to publications on Edgar Allan Poe’s early translations and presence in Greek letters.

Dr Tsirakoglou has worked as a translator for the European Commission in Luxembourg. She also has experience as a conference interpreter.
