CITY College Research and Innovation Committee (RIC)

The Research Executive Committee (RIC) consists of the Vice President for Research, Innovation and External Relations, the Heads of the Departments and the Director of the South East European Research Center (SEERC). The RIC is chaired by the Vice President for Research, Innovation and External Relations and aims at implementing CITY College’s Research Strategy. RIC responsibilities are:

  • To promote, monitor and enhance College, Departmental and SEERC activity in the pursuit of research excellence, high quality and impact 
  • To define, monitor and review CITY College and Departmental Research and Innovation strategy, goals and actions.  
  • To review Research and Innovation Key Performance Indicators across the College and Departmental activities. 
  • To ensure the effective implementation of the University’s and the CITY College policies related to Research and innovation 
  • To ensure the production of high quality research output as a top priority for the academic departments
  • To encourage active participation of all academic staff in research and innovation activities including research – led learning and teaching 
  • To provide support for research staff development to all academic staff 
  • To Ensure that researchers have access to resources needed to conduct high quality research
  • To ensure smooth cooperation with the Faculties/Departments  on Research and Innovation based in the parent University.
  • To oversee and monitor the progress and continuous development of the SEERC Doctoral Program including embedding PhD students to the academic life of the Departments  
  • To stimulate research engagement for students at all levels (Bachelor, Master, PhD) 
  • To support departments and staff with research funding activities
  • To identify and disseminate good practices in research, innovation and public engagement within and outside CITY College
  • To engage with external stakeholders ecosystem (businesses, policy makers, society) and to ensure a high impact and market/community oriented research 
  • To encourage public engagement of our research and engagement of our researchers with the Research and Innovation ecosystem in Thessaloniki, in Greece and the countries of South East and East Europe  
  • To ensure that the Research Policies as described at the Research Handbook are up to date and in line with the University’s and CITY College’s strategies. 
  • To undertake the annual Staff Research Appraisal 
  • To oversee the development of a Research Reflection report and the participating of staff to Research Excellence Framework exercise of the parent University 

The members of REC are also members of the SEERC Steering Committee.
